The educational assistance program is designed to assist employees who wish to continue their education and enable them to gain greater skills in areas benefit their career development and the overall success of Summa Health System.

Summa Health System's Leadership Institute supports the engagement of its workforce and the changing educational needs of the organization and its individuals. We understand the need to prepare leaders and are committed to build succession planning in order to keep Summa’s legacy. Each course is designed to meet the needs of current leaders and managers and to develop tomorrow’s leaders as well.
A computer-based independent study center designed to offer job skills training to all employees at all levels of the organization, also is available. Non-Summa employees may take classes as well and are charged an hourly rate for each course.
Currently, Summa's Learning Center offers more than 80 courses. Content includes classes such as management training, office software, and medical training. Independent study has been connected with the performance appraisal process. Each successfully completed is entered into the employee's permanent education record.
