Exercise Physiologist

What is Exercise Physiology?

The short answer is that it is the study of how the body adapts to physical movement.

Exercise Physiologists can make a difference for those patients with pulmonary, cardiovascular or immunological conditions.  The Exercise Physiologist evaluates the patient's heart rhythm, blood pressure, weight, strength and flexibility and creates an exercise plan suited to their needs. By setting exercise standards, goals, and priorities they can make a difference in the patient's daily performance.

Exercise Physiologists are primarily employed with a fitness center, however, they work closely with  wellness and rehabilitation centers where they assist the general population with their activity needs.

The Exercise Physiologist may hold a bachelor’s degree or other certifications and are CPR certified.
