Summa honored as a Best Place to Work in first-ever healthcare workplace listing

Akron, Ohio - Summa Health System is proud to be the highest ranked healthcare organization in Ohio on Modern Healthcare magazine's "Best Places to Work" list. Ranked No. 32 in the nation, Summa was honored as an outstanding employer in the healthcare industry.

In this first-ever healthcare workplace listing, Modern Healthcare recently unveiled its ranking of the top 100 healthcare organizations on a national level. To select the top 100 institutions, a survey was administered from an independent third party to collect information from both employers and employees on everything from economic development to employee retention.

Employers were asked about company policies, practices, benefits and demographics. Employees completed an in-depth survey that resulted in an analysis of eight core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall satisfaction.

"It's a culture that values servant leadership, open and honest feedback and the knowledge that each person makes a difference in the lives of our patients and our community."

With a priority on attracting, retaining and motivating top employees, Summa's Human Resources team continually develops unique initiatives for its employees. One such example is the Performance Plus Plan, which rewards employees for the success of the organization. The plan gives employees the potential to earn an additional one to four percent of their annual earnings based on financial and patient satisfaction outcomes.

Summa also was recognized by NorthCoast 99 for the fifth consecutive year as one of the best workplaces in Northeast Ohio and a finalist in the Compensation and Benefits Special Award category.
