Awards Ceremony Held in Honor of Nurses’ Week

Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May, 14, 2009– Summa Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital celebrated Nurses’ Week by recognizing four nurses for outstanding patient care and dedication to their profession.

Chris Allen, R.N. and Mary Hensler, R.N. received the hospital’s 2009 “Excellence in Nursing” award for their skilled and compassionate patient care. Deb Armprester, R.N. was honored with the “Preceptor of the Year” award for her role in providing high quality education to new nurses. Abi Morrison, R.N. was named “Rookie of the Year” for her work on the inpatient unit 3 West. Additionally, Fancie McGuire received the “Excellence in Nursing Support” award.

Other nursing unit winners for the “Excellence in Nursing” award were Dan Gressock, R.N., Sue Ayers, LPN, Deb Pierce, R.N., and Kathy Zartman, R.N., N.P.

“Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital is fortunate to have a dedicated team of nurses,” said Sue Gill, R.N., director of nursing. “This year’s winners were recognized by their peers for demonstrating excellence in nursing and for making our patients and their families their number one priority.”

Nurses and honorees were recognized at a Cinco de Mayo themed Nursing Excellence celebration on May 5. The luncheon reception featured creative nursing displays from nursing units throughout the hospital and prizes. This year’s displays focused on the hospital’s new “Go Green” initiative.
