Learning Center
A computer-based independent study center was developed at Summa Health System in 1997 in order to offer job skills training to all levels of employees. By offering these courses to all levels of employees, an atmosphere of continuous learning is fostered in a positive way. The center opened to the community in November, 2002. Non-Summa employees are charged an hourly/by course fee.
Currently, Summa's Learning Center offers more than 80 courses on 12 computer workstations. Learning content has expanded to include such courses as management, office software, and medical training. Independent study has been connected with the performance appraisal process. Each course that is successfully completed is entered into the employee's permanent education record.
