Summa's Oncology Nurse Navigators
An oncology nurse navigator provides individualized assistance to patients, their families, and caregivers to help overcome barriers to care, whether through the health care system, or the environment, and facilitate timely access to quality medical and psychosocial care through all phases of the cancer experience.
Our oncology nurse navigators provide a warm relationship of support and coordination of care for the patient and family. The team also provides education of the disease process and treatments. In addition, the coordinator helps to facilitate access to supportive, financial, and psychosocial services. Our oncology nurse navigators along with a collaborative multidisciplinary team work closely to provide efficient access to the health care system.
