Specialized Performance Programs and Resources

Get Vertical and Improve Speed/Agility
We address the strength, power, speed, balance and agility of an athlete. We work on strength, power, speed and body control as they relate to the athlete’s specific sport, and we teach proper form to allow for more efficient and safe movement. The programs are designed to improve performance and movement efficiency and help reduce injury. They are offered in a team setting at your facility or Summa Center for Sports Health facility. Registration is required; call (330) 342-4400.

ImPACT™ Evaluation
Provides computerized neurocognitive assessment tools and services to assist physicians and other healthcare professionals in determining an athlete's ability to return to play after suffering a concussion. For more information, call (888) 778-6627.

Pre-Season Physicals

Video Runners Gait Analysis
A gait analysis can help runners improve their performance and reduce their potential for injury.
While running on either a treadmill or a track, the runner is videotaped from various angles. By slowing the tape down, a clinician can explain the analysis of the stride to the runner. The analysis is completed by an athletic trainer, physician or physical therapist that specializes in gait analysis.

Common injuries related to poor running form include:
• Neck strain
• Shoulder pain
• Achilles tendonitis
• Foot and ankle pain
• Knee pain/ITB and runner’s knee
• Lower and mid back pain

An appointment is required. An analysis lasts 15 to 20 minutes. To register, call (330) 379-9229.

Water Cross Training Program for Runners
This program is aimed at improving athletic performance while reducing the likelihood of overuse injuries sustained by runners. Exercises will help develop speed and power and improve cardiovascular conditioning without the stress to the legs. Registration is required; call (330) 342-4400.

Wrestling Skin Checks
Our sports medicine physicians offer weekly skin checks to all middle school, high school and college wrestlers by appointment at one of our offices. For more information, call (888) 778-6627.
