Our Team of Physicians

Nilesh Shah, M.D.
Medical Director and Sports Medicine Specialist

Dr. Nilesh Shah obtained his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1998. He completed a family practice residency at Grant Medical Center and a sports medicine fellowship at The Ohio State University. He is board-certified in family practice and possesses a certificate of added qualifications in sports medicine. Dr. Shah is the fellowship director of the Summa Health System Sports Medicine Fellowship, medical director of Summa Center for Sports Health, team physician for the Akron Aeros, Kent State University athletics and Kent Roosevelt High School. He is also medical director for the Akron Marathon.

Dr. Shah takes special interest in the care of endurance athletes, fractures and tendinosis. He also specializes in musculoskeletal ultrasound and platelet rich plasma injections.

In addition to overseeing Summa Center for Sports Health, Dr. Shah is an avid runner and has competed in multiple marathons and a half-iron man triathlon. He maintains his current fitness level by running and strength training.

 

Tom Bartsokas, M.D.
Sports Medicine Specialist

Dr. Tom Bartsokas obtained his medical degree from Southern Illinois University

School of Medicine and master’s degree in exercise physiology from University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. He possesses a certificate of added qualifications in sports medicine. Dr. Bartsokas also provided medical support to the 1996 and 1998 U.S. Olympic Teams. He is currently team physician for Kent State University athletics and Ravenna High School.

Dr. Bartsokas enjoys helping adolescents and adults make exercise a consistent part of their daily routines in an effort to promote wellness and move away from sedentary lifestyles. In addition to physical benefits, Dr. Bartsokas also emphasizes the mental benefits of exercise.

A former competitive long-distance runner, Dr. Bartsokas maintains his own physical fitness by running, swimming and cycling coupled with regular resistance training.

 

Trevor Bullock, D.O.
Sports Medicine Specialist

Trevor Bullock, D.O., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained sports medicine and family medicine specialist. Dr. Bullock is a graduate of Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He served his family medicine residency at Summa Health System and a fellowship in sports medicine at Toledo Hospital Primary Care.  Dr. Bullock has treated athletes in a number of different capacities, including as a team physician on the professional, collegiate and high school level and for events such as Akron Marathon. He was a member of  Ohio University’s football team from 2000 to 2002. Dr. Bullock has delivered a number of presentations related to sports medicine and the athlete. He is team physician for Kent State University and Cuyahoga Falls High School. He sees patients in Akron and Cuyahoga Falls.

 

Robert Crawford, M.D.
Sports Medicine Specialist

Robert Crawford, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained family medicine and sports medicine specialist. He is a graduate of Medical College of Toledo, and served his family practice residency at St. Vincent Health Center (Erie, Pa.) and sports medicine fellowship at Summa Health System. Dr. Crawford is team physician for Kent State University and Wadsworth High School. He was team physician for the NCAA Division I gymnastics team and individual finals in 2011. He has participated in a number of research studies. He sees patients in Wadsworth and Medina.

 

James Goff, D.O.
Sports Medicine Specialist

Dr. James Goff obtained his medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998. He completed a family practice residency at Aultman Hospital and completed his fellowship training in sports medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He is board-certified in family practice and possesses a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. Dr. Goff is a clinical professor at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and is team physician for Kent State University athletics, Green High School and Manchester High School.

Dr. Goff is especially interested in proper concussion management and the effects of various medical issues on athletes, including hypertension, diabetes, asthma and mononucleosis. He also enjoys helping patients and athletes manage osteoarthritis.

Dr. Goff is a former football player with exercise preferences including biking and golf, in addition to countless hours of yard work and coaching his daughter’s youth sports teams.

Hollie Kozak, M.Ed., AT
Manager, Summa Center for Sports Health

Hollie Kozak earned licensure from the State of Ohio as an athletic trainer in 1991 and has managed Summa Center for Sports Health since 2005. In addition to her responsibilities at Summa, Hollie is president of The Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association and medical administrator for the Akron Marathon and LeBron James Bike-a-thon. She has extensive experience in serving high school, college and youth levels of athletics and has administered various community educational programs for parents and coaches as well as for college students and professionals at conferences throughout Ohio and other states. Prior to joining Summa, she was the sports medicine coordinator for Humility of Mary Health Partners and the director of rehabilitation for Ameri-Sports Medicine. Hollie earned her bachelor’s degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and a master’s degree from The University of Akron.
