Through research, clinical care practices and active partnering with our physicians and other healthcare professionals, our nurses practice at the forefront of their profession.
In 2012, 3,112 Summa nurses cared for one million patients, including 230,637 ER visits and 63,935 surgeries in our 7 hospitals and 24 community health centers, as well as 132,995 home care visits.
Thanks to our nurses' high level of patient-focused dedication and commitment to superior care, we have achieved Magnet status at Summa Akron City and St. Thomas Hospitals. Only 7% of hospitals nationwide earn Magnet status. We are proud that our nurses achieved this “gold standard” of care.
