AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 18, 2011 – The Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce it has received a landmark gift of $500,000 from Clampco Products, Inc., owned by James and Linda Venner of Wadsworth, Oh. The Venners donated the funds in support of the Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital emergency department expansion project, which is currently underway.

The Venners founded Clampco Products, a leading manufacturer of engineered joining solutions in Wadsworth, and chose to give this gift to Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital because of their history with the hospital and the hospital’s importance to the community.

“We feel like the hospital supported us during our lean years,” said James Venner. “When we started Clampco in our garage in 1971, our family was young. Linda worked at the hospital as a nurse to provide the seed income to make our dreams of entrepreneurship a reality. Fortunately, we’re now able to help the hospital as they once helped us.”

“We’re grateful to the hospital and everyone in the community for their support of our company and feel that by providing funding for this project, the entire Wadsworth area will benefit,” said Linda.

The expansion project will increase the emergency department’s size from 9,300 to 16,000 square feet and will increase its capacity to 20 beds, allowing the hospital to meet the current and projected needs of patients in the Wadsworth region, one of the fastest growing areas in Ohio. The project is expected to be complete in late summer 2011.

Dan Selby, executive director of the Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital Foundation, said the Venner’s gift will impact healthcare for the region for years to come.

“By supporting the emergency department expansion project, the Venners are truly making a difference to residents of Wadsworth and the surrounding communities. Their gift to the hospital is a gift for the healthcare of the entire area. We’re grateful for their support.”

The Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital Foundation has now received $1.5 million towards the $3.2 million renovation.
