WADSWORTH, Ohio, Aug. 29, 2012 – Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital recently selected nine area students to receive scholarships who are planning to pursue a nursing or healthcare career, as well as six hospital employees for continuing education.
Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital has offered scholarships to students to advance their education in a healthcare-related field since 1998. To date, the hospital has provided scholarships to 156 students from the Wadsworth area totaling $156,000. This year’s recipients of the Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital Scholarship each received a $1,000 toward their education.
Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital also provides almost $20,000 in scholarships each year to employees, members of the medical staff as well as allied staff for continuing education. These funds are provided by the Rachel S. MacKenzie Scholarship Fund, established in 2001 by a former patient who wanted to make a lasting tribute to the hospital.
