AKRON, Ohio, Oct. 28, 2011 – Summa Health System’s Ignatia Hall Chemical Dependency Program recently opened a new location on Whipple Avenue in the Belden Village area of Canton.
The new location will provide better accessibility for individuals needing assessments and intensive outpatient services in the Canton area. The assessments are comprehensive evaluations that help identify both mental health and substance abuse problems. Once a patient is diagnosed, they are referred to the most appropriate level of care, which may include inpatient detox, inpatient psychiatric treatment, intensive outpatient treatment such as Summa’s Ignatia Hall Intensive Outpatient Program, medication management or other therapeutic services.
The Ignatia Hall Intensive Outpatient Program, now offered at the Canton location, is an intensive group therapy treatment program designed for those diagnosed with alcohol or chemical dependency. Available days or evenings, the program runs four days a week, three hours a day, with12 to 16 sessions completed per person. The program is abstinence-based and supports the use of a 12-step recovery program in order to obtain and maintain a chemical-free lifestyle.
The Chemical Dependency Program in Canton is a part of Ignatia Hall at Summa St. Thomas Hospital, which offers a full range of services for those dealing with opiate, alcohol and drug addictions. Ignatia Hall is the founding location for the first detox center in the world and is nationally and internationally known for its role in helping alcoholics and addicts recover for more than 70 years.
