GREEN, Ohio, June 21, 2012 – Residents of Green and the surrounding communities will soon have a new choice for quality emergency care close to home. Summa Health System’s Emergency Department at Green Located at Heritage Crossings opens to the community on July 9 at 7 a.m. The ED is located at 1825 Franks Parkway on Massillon Road near the Summa Health Center at Green and is also accessible from any municipal ambulance squad.
The ED will be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with board-certified emergency physicians and other personnel trained for both adult and pediatric emergencies.
“The community can count on us for the very best of emergency care in a location that’s close to home,” said Jeff Wright, M.D., medical director of Summa’s Emergency Department at Green Located at Heritage Crossings. “Many of our emergency physicians also live in and around Green, so we look forward to taking care of our own.”
The $17 million ED will include bedside registration, which allows family members to accompany their loved ones as much as possible during the care process. The ED is also equipped with bedside ultrasound imaging, dedicated laboratory and radiology departments around-the-clock, and occupational health services, which open August 13.
Summa expects to serve approximately 14,000 patients in the first year from Green, Uniontown, Hartville, Coventry, Springfield, Portage Lakes, Canal Fulton, Clinton, Jackson and North Canton. The 22,000-square-foot ED includes 14 private exam rooms and two resuscitation rooms. The new ED will create 64 new jobs and includes 48 credentialed emergency physicians.
Summa Health System has been an integral part of the Green community since it opened the Summa Health Center at Green in conjunction with the Green Family YMCA in 2000. This $11.2 million, 100,000-square-foot center provides the community with access to a wide range of services including MRI, CT scan, X-ray, ultrasound, bone densitometry, mammography, sleep medicine, lab services, sports health and rehabilitation services.
Summa’s Emergency Department at Green Located at Heritage Crossings is part of a $96 million expansion of Summa’s emergency services network throughout the region announced in 2010. Other Summa ED locations include: Summa Akron City Hospital, Summa St. Thomas Hospital in Akron, Summa Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Summa Barberton Hospital, Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital, Summa Health Center at Lake Medina and Robinson Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of Summa Health System, in Ravenna.
