BARBERTON, Ohio, Feb. 27, 2013 – Before the facility opens for live-saving care on March 11, the public can get a look inside the $17.3 million Summa Barberton Hospital Emergency Department during an open house on March 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.
During the event, Summa Barberton Hospital will be offering light refreshments, free blood pressure screenings, and self-guided tours of the expansive emergency department. Attendees will also have an opportunity to win a Kindle Fire device being given away during the event.
“The opening of the new emergency department is a major milestone in our hospital’s history and a major investment that our community can be proud of,” said Brant Russell, RN, MSN, MBA, vice president of clinical and support services at Summa Barberton and Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospitals. “We’ve expanded our emergency department’s patient care areas and invested in new technologies that will help our physicians, nurses and staff save lives.”
On display during the open house will be the emergency department’s new private rooms, fast-track system and state-of-the-art technology including enhanced imaging capabilities and wireless voice communication. When the facility opens to patients later in the month, it will include 46 patient areas and cover nearly 32,000 square feet.
The hospital is located at 155 Fifth Street, NE, in Barberton, and the new Emergency Department entrance is on the south side of the hospital near the Parkview Cancer Center. The Emergency Department was completed after about 19 months under construction.
