AKRON, Ohio, August 21, 2013 – The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International has accredited Summa Rehab Hospital for a period of three years for its Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs-Hospitals (Adults) program. This is the first accreditation that the international accrediting body has awarded to Summa Rehab Hospital.
This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization, and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process. It has also demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit its commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality.
“We are very proud to have achieved this high-level accreditation receiving exemplary conformance based on our design, safe practices and patient accessibility,” said Cheryl Henthorn, chief executive officer of Summa Rehab Hospital. “Our multi-disciplinary team approach enables us to provide the best treatment and services available within an environment specifically designed with the patient and caregivers needs in mind.”
Summa Rehab Hospital, a partnership with Vibra Healthcare, opened in January 2012. Conveniently located on the Summa Akron City Hospital campus at 29 N. Adams St., the 24/7, three-floor, freestanding rehabilitation facility is dedicated to inpatient acute rehabilitation led by a multi-disciplinary team comprised of physicians, nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists and case managers.
