AKRON, Ohio, November 26, 2013 – SummaCare’s Medicare Advantage plan has once again been recognized with a 4.5 Star (out of 5) overall rating for 2014 in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Medicare Star Rating System. The annual ratings help consumers determine how well a plan is performing in areas including:
- How members rate the plan’s services and care
- How well physicians detect illnesses and keep members healthy
- How well the plan helps members use safe and recommended prescription medications
In total, the Medicare Star Rating System scores plans on a 1-5 scale based on 50 quality measures across five categories. SummaCare is one of only two Medicare Advantage plans in the state of Ohio to receive such a high mark.
“We are exceptionally proud to be recognized by CMS with this high rating,” said Jim Loveless, vice president of Individual and Medicare Products at SummaCare. “This type of information is very valuable to consumers, especially at this time of year when many seniors are choosing their Medicare Advantage plans for 2014.”
