The Cancer Research Program was established in 1988 and is currently supported by monies from accruals to NCI-funded cooperative oncology group protocols and pharmaceutical industry clinical trials. Summa Health System is a full member of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), an affiliate member of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) and the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG), and is a member of the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG).
The Cancer Research Program will provide cutting-edge cancer treatment to the Summa Health System community. By doing so the Cancer Research Program allows cancer patients the opportunity to be close to home/family/friends during treatment.
Every eligible cancer patient will be offered participation in a clinical trial as part of the discussion of treatment options.
