"Before surgery I was a couch potato mom. I watched my children grow up but wasn’t really participating. I was worried that since I wasn’t healthy, they wouldn’t be either.
And when Summa started offering their minimally invasive bariatric surgery, I thought, I can do this. And maybe it will give me a second chance to not be a couch potato mom anymore.
My surgeon felt I was a good candidate. I was excited to be one of the first ones in the program at Summa’s bariatric center. And literally, in three weeks I was back to work and a different person. I was really nervous at first, but everyone at Summa was very reassuring and very kind and caring. They made sure there was always someone with me. I remember, in the operating room, thinking everything - the room, the technology – was so modern. I would say that you couldn’t pick a better place than Summa – they care, they get you back on your feet, they follow-up and make sure you are doing ok.
For Mother’s Day last year, I got a bicycle as a present. Now we go bike riding and exercising and we don’t sit in the house anymore in the summer!"
