Your hip joint is integral in keeping your body in motion. When your hip joint causes pain, every move you make can cause pain.
Through Summa Health System’s partnership with Crystal Clinic Orthopedic Center, patients have access to Northeast Ohio’s largest group of hip surgeons.
The diversity in fellowship training of our surgeons is impressive. Physicians have trained at prestigious fellowship programs throughout the country, and have brought this expertise back to Northeast Ohio.
Our specialists can ease your suffering from hip pain and get you back to a normal, daily routine. We offer quality care in the most technologically advanced facilities in a relaxing atmosphere of caring, comfort and complete understanding. Care is provided for labral tears, soft tissue injuries and boy problems.
Initially, Summa Health System physicians try to treat joint pain with medical approaches, including rest, physical therapy, applications of heat or cold, and medication. Sometimes, injections of a cortisone-like drug directly into a joint can reduce pain and inflammation.
However, if these methods do not relieve your pain, surgery may be necessary. For many individuals, joint replacement surgery can successfully reduce pain and restore function when other approaches fail to bring relief.
Hip replacement is usually done with a combination of cobalt chrome and highly cross-linked polyethylene implants, which have helped to improve success rates. Modular components are now used in hip replacements, allowing for easy “revision” of worn out joints.
Most hip replacements are performed with titanium implants and inserted without cement. These “cement-less” hip replacements last longer than their cemented counterparts and, when combined with modular highly cross-linked polyethylene inserts, allow our surgeons to perform replacements in younger patients.
New techniques and technology can offer patients increased mobility and independence. They can also allow for more rapid recovery and longer lasting joint function.
The hip specialists of Summa Health System can help restore the joy of movement and revitalize lives.
