Fun Facts: Alexis is from Niles OH and was on the golf team at John Carroll University during undergrad. She loves being active outdoors with golfing, cycling, skiing and now learning to fly fish with her dad. Her favorite travel experience so far has been going to the Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio Tour and visiting as many Harry Potter film locations as possible while studying abroad in London for a month! Since moving to Akron, she's enjoyed trying all the local breweries with her classmates while attempting to find out which one has the best soft pretzel!
Name: Mai Hasan, M.D.
Medical School: George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences
Fun Facts: Mai was born and raised in Northern Virginia. She spends her free time catching up on the latest Netflix reality TV shows or exploring the local boba spots. She also enjoys putting together Lego sets and baking misshapen cookies.
Name: Abbey Karlock, D.O.
Medical School: Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine
Fun Facts: Abbey is a true Ohio girl- she attended both college and medical school in Ohio and grew up in Northeast Ohio. She loves reality TV, playing with her dog Ferguson, and visiting new restaurants and breweries with her fiance who is also a resident. Her goal by the end of residency is to visit every brewery in the greater Akron area- with her co-residents, of course!
Name: Ericka Moore, D.O.
Medical School: Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine
Fun Facts: Ericka enjoys hiking in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park with her husband Josh and dog Rhaegar. She loves traveling to new locations- her favorite so far was the 2 weeks she spent in Italy in the Summer of 2023! Most recently, she has been enjoying visiting local breweries with her co-residents.
Name: John Quinn, M.D.
Medical School: Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health
Fun Facts: John's first child, his daughter, was born on Match Day! He once drove in the Franklin County Demolition Derby. His great x9 grandfather, William Blackstone, signed the Declaration of Independence!
Name: Jerika Schirf, M.D.
Medical School: Northeast Ohio Medical University
Fun Facts: Jerika is from North Canton, OH. She coached gymnastics for 6 years before medical school. Her favorite food is pancakes! She enjoys running, gardening, reading fiction novels, and spending time with her husband and two tortoise shell cats!

Name: Carly Gemma, D.O.

Fun Facts: Carly is technically a Lord in Scotland as she owns 1 square foot of land! Her hobbies here at home include doing DIY projects, being outside, and making homemade spaghetti and sauce on Sundays.
Name: Jeanne Nwagwu, D.O.
Medical School: Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine
Fun Facts: Jeanne was born and raised in Southern California. She enjoys traveling and her favorite place that she has been is South Africa. Her favorite breed of dog is the Corgi because they are so fluffy! If she could choose to eat one food everyday, it would be street tacos.
Name: Stephanie Rains, M.D.
Medical School: Northeast Ohio Medical University
Fun Facts: In her free time, Stephanie loves to hike with her dog and bake. She has two fish tanks at home- one is filled with African Cichlids and she and her husband nicknamed them "the frat house" as they are a semi-aggressive bunch of guys! Her least favorite food is pizza!

Fun Facts: Originally from Pittsburgh, Aly went to medical school in Blacksburg, VA which sparked her love of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A nature lover, Aly enjoys running, hiking (she backpacked across Spain before starting medical school), and all things outdoors. Her current aspirations include visiting all of the National Parks and finding the best pizza in Northeast Ohio with her husband who is also a resident.
Name: Anne (Sophie) Shabab, M.D.
Medical School: Northeast Ohio Medical University
Fun Facts: Sophie grew up in Cleveland, OH. Her favorite things about the Akron area include walking in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and biking on the Towpath Trail, as well as enjoying the local coffee shops and bakeries. She loves Summa because of the amazing support from the other residents and the faculty in all aspects of residency!
Name: Pauline Van Dijck, D.O.
Medical School: Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine
Fun Facts: Pauline was born in Belgium and is fluent in Dutch. One of the coolest trips she has taken was to South Africa with her college soccer team. She went on safari and went cage diving with great white sharks! She loves being outdoors, especially going on hikes in the Cuyahoga Valley with her dog, Milou.

Name: Janine Appleton, D.O.
Medical School: Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine
Fun Facts: Janine is from a small town in Connecticut and loves a good iced coconut coffee from Dunkin' Donuts, but is steadily becoming a big hospital Starbucks fan! Janine's favorite food is maple flavored anything. She has a twin sister and is an avid plant collector. She's currently attempting to grow a lime tree in her apartment, so stay tuned for hopefully some fresh margaritas!

Fun Facts: Abigail met her husband on vacation at Myrtle Beach! She danced ballet for 18 years, loves baking and cooking, and hiking portions of the Appalachian Trail.
Name: Meredith Moller, D.O.

Fun Facts: During her free time, Meredith enjoys walking her dog, Bubba, on the beautiful trails of Cuyahoga Falls. Her favorite place to vacation is Siesta Key, FL. She also loves to bake for her husband, Ryan.

Fun Facts: Gina grew up on a small horse farm in a suburb of Cleveland. She spent over 10 years competing in horseback riding and her family still has 3 horses! She enjoys being active and spending time outdoors. She loves living in the Akron area as it's close to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, as well as many other great hiking trails. She and her husband own a miniature Australian Shepherd named Pippa (who also loves hiking)!

Fun Facts: Mikaela had her first baby a month before residency started! She enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and German Shepard, Luna. Her favorite season is fall because she loves college football and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes!

Fun Facts: Natalie grew up in Oregon and has 2 different colored eyes! She loves to hike (especially with her dogs) and read. And, she is a huge Harry Potter fan!

Name: Megan Carlson, D.O.
Medical School: Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine
Fun Facts: Megan is a Seattle native and diehard Seahawks fan! Her favorite things to do are running, PELOTON, and wine tasting- especially with her co-residents! She has a 3 year old Weimaraner pup who keeps her very busy! There are two things in life she won’t turn down: Taco Tuesday and pumpkin cream cold brew!

Fun Facts: Kylan is from Pittsburgh PA. His favorite activities include walking at the Boston Mills Towpath Trail on the weekend with his wife and twins who were born in the Spring of 2021 (and toddler son who was born in the late Summer of 2022)! His favorite place to eat is Darby's on 59 and his favorite rotation is MFM.

Fun Facts: Renae is a transplant to the Akron area from medical school in California, but is loving the area and the people! She is a real homebody and favorite times are spent on the couch eating home baked goodies and laughing with her husband!
Name: Olga Kontarovich, D.O.
Medical School: Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific
Fun Facts: Olga is a Wisconsin transplant, and yes she loves her Green Bay Packers and cheese! Cheese boards are her specialty. When she is not hosting a Sunday football party, she spends the rest of her time with her doggos. She is the dog mom of two rescue pups who traveled across the country with her to move to Ohio.

Medical School: The University of Toledo College of Medicine
Fun Facts: Celina loves snowboarding, hiking, and visiting the metro parks. She will get outside whenever possible. She is, self-admittedly, becoming a crazy plant lady! Her favorite aspect of Summa Health is the family environment and supportive culture.
Name: Salina Johnson, M.D.
Medical School: Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine
Fun Facts: Akron is the southernmost point that Salina has lived! She was able to name herself. Her favorite part of residency so far has been hanging out with her classmates and learning how to be a great OBGYN in times of COVID-19.
