Lanie Ward Named to Premier Healthcare Alliance CNO Network

AKRON, Ohio, April 26, 2011 – Summa Health System Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Lanie Ward, RN, MBA, NEA-BC, is one of approximately 130 CNOs nationwide who have joined the Premier Healthcare Alliance CNO Network. The group, dedicated to improving quality, safety and efficiency, will collaborate and share best practices regarding the issues that are most important to CNOs, their organizations and the communities they serve.

It is anticipated that the network will convene four times per year, both in person and via webinar. The initial focus will include aspects of healthcare reform, such as value-based purchasing. The network was formed in part because as the role of the CNO continues to expand, they need to be well-versed in areas and subjects including payors, supply chain management and reimbursement.

“CNOs today face challenges and expectations that we have not traditionally faced,” Ward said. “The purpose of this network is to bring together CNOs from across the nation to collaborate and share best practices specific to driving improvements in patient care, as well as operations and efficiencies.”

In addition to her regular committee responsibilities, Ward is one of 15 CNOs named to the Executive Leadership Counsel, which will provide oversight to the entire group.
