AKRON, Ohio, Sept. 14, 2011– Summa Health System is proud to welcome Brian Derrick, CPA, as System Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Derrick joins Summa from Albert Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia, Pa. where he was CFO for eight years. He also has held various financial leadership positions at the Jefferson Health System in Philadelphia and the UPMC Health System in Pittsburgh. His first day at Summa is Nov. 8.

In his new role, Derrick will be responsible for managing the financial structure and systems for Summa Health System and leading strategic financial initiatives across the System.

With Brian’s previous experiences and strong financial background, there is no doubt he will be a great asset to our organization,” said Summa Health System President and CEO Thomas J. Strauss. “With changes coming from healthcare reform, it was imperative we find a financial leader who can direct our entire system through our strategic business and financial initiatives.”

Derrick earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from Thiel College in Greenville, Pa. and is a Certified Public Accountant. Along with his wife, Angel, and their children, Derrick will be relocating to Northeast Ohio in the coming year.
