AKRON, Ohio, August 20, 2012– The Summa Foundation is proud to host its 11th Sapphire Ball at the John S. Knight Center in Akron on Saturday, September 8, 2012.
Throughout the past decade, funds raised at this signature gala have provided support for several important initiatives, including the Ann and David Brennan Critical Care Center, Palliative Care Services, the Jean and Milton Cooper Cancer Center and the Women’s Health Center. Proceeds from this year’s ball will again support the critical needs of Women’s Health Services at Summa Health System.
“Our vision is to become the premier center of women’s health in northeast Ohio by providing comprehensive care for the mothers, daughters, sisters and wives in our community,” said Vivian von Gruenigen, M.D., chair of obstetrics and gynecology at Summa Akron City and St. Thomas Hospitals, system medical director for women’s health at Summa Health System and a physician with Summa Physicians Inc. – Gynecology/Oncology. “We strive to take a leading role in managing the health and well-being of women at every stage of their lives, including obstetrical and gynecological services as well as subspecialties. The Sapphire Ball proceeds will allow us to increase our high quality, compassionate care for the women in our communities through continued development of our facilities, programming and research.”
Guests at the elegant black-tie fundraiser will enjoy a beautiful evening of cocktails, gourmet dining, dancing and entertainment, including world class treasure chest raffles.
“This year’s Sapphire Ball promises an evening of enchantment and surprise,” said Holly Wilt, this year’s Sapphire Ball event co-chair with husband Steve Wilt. “Of course we’ll enjoy this extraordinary signature gala – but our most important accomplishment will be raising funds to support women’s health services, programs, education and research.”
