Generous contributions provide nearly $10 million
annually to Summa Health. Gifts made to Summa through
Summa Foundation help us fulfill our mission to provide
the highest quality, compassionate care to our patients
and members and to contribute to a healthier community.
The role of Summa Foundation is to facilitate the path
from donor to impact by linking community supporters
with philanthropic priorities that many times transform the
ways in which we care for our community.

Annually, Summa receives nearly 6,000 separate gifts
from nearly 2,400 different sources including grateful
patients and families, corporations, foundations and
other supporters. These gifts are directed to more than
110 different areas across the System and help make it
possible for Summa to expand and enhance facilities and
programs, recruit and retain the region’s best physicians,
invest in innovative technologies and conduct leading-
edge clinical research to benefit the lives of our patients
and their families. Summa Foundation also works
collaboratively with system and clinical leaders to provide
stewardship to our supporters and community of their
philanthropic investments in our health system.

From the founding of our first hospital, Summa Health
System - Akron Campus, made possible by a $10,000
bequest in 1883, to the growth of our comprehensive
health system today, the generosity of our faithful friends
and benefactors continues to advance Summa and
enables us to keep our promise to put the health of our
community first.
