Meet Dilli
Soccer. Volleyball. Cricket. For 26-year-old Dilli, sports have always been a big part of life – both as a player and a coach. But chronic hip pain kept him sidelined for years.
A former resident of Lancaster, PA, Dilli had already seen numerous doctors and undergone multiple unsuccessful procedures on his right hip before meeting Joseph Rabe, M.D., an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon at Summa Health. What stood out to him from the start was how Dr. Rabe truly listened, understood his goals and was committed to finding the best possible solution.
In December 2023, Dr. Rabe performed a scope and labral repair on Dilli’s left hip. The results were immediate – his pain was gone. To provide extra support, Dr. Rabe also recommended radiation therapy and personally coordinated with the Summa Health Cancer Institute to ensure a seamless experience. He even stayed with Dilli through the entire process, following up afterward to ensure his recovery was on track.
“I am so grateful that Dr. Rabe is my surgeon now,” Dilli says. “I’ve been with him two to three years, and he’s always been there for me.”
While Dilli continues to experience some pain in his right hip, Dr. Rabe is reviewing records from previous surgeries and actively researching what other treatments might help. For Dilli, that level of dedication proves how much his physician truly cares about his future.
The depth of Dr. Rabe’s care became even clearer in May 2025, when Dilli got married. As part of his Nepalese culture, Dilli needed to sit cross-legged during the ceremony. Dr. Rabe made sure he could do so comfortably and without pain. At his next appointment, the first thing Dr. Rabe asked about was the wedding – an act of kindness Dilli will never forget.
Today, Dilli is back doing what he loves most: playing soccer and cricket. Beyond the field, he runs a home health business that provides care for older adults and serves as a job coach for youth with disabilities in our community. His passion for helping others is deeply rooted in his culture, and thanks to the care he’s received at Summa Health, he’s able to pursue that passion fully.
