A message from our chairs
Dear Friends of Summa Health,
We are honored to lead the extended campaign for Summa Health, “Caring for You … Then, Now, Always,” at an exciting time in our history.
Summa Health rests on a strong foundation that began with the wisdom of our founding benefactors Boniface DeRoo, Thomas W. Cornell, O.C. Barber and Charles Deering. Their vision of caring for all those in need — regardless of their ability to pay — continues to inspire Summa Health today.
In faithfully honoring the vision of our early benefactors, Summa Health has touched countless lives and contributed meaningfully to the greater good for more than 125 years.
Summa has always been a special part of our family. It’s where our three sons were born, where we have had the opportunity to provide meaningful volunteer service, and where we have received important care in critical times.
When we moved to Akron in 1965, we began volunteering, in particular at Summa, to help out where we were needed in our new community. In that journey, we have gained far more than we have given.
Now, we are ready to build on Summa Health’s legacy of caring for Greater Akron and our neighbors throughout Northeast Ohio with the second phase of Summa’s investment in the community. The centerpiece of that second phase is the new Juve Family Behavioral Health Pavilion on the Akron Campus.
Will you join us in this century-long journey of continuous innovation and growth? Your gift can support a program or service that is especially meaningful to your family.
All gifts help Summa Health provide the highest quality, compassionate care now and always — and build on Summa Health’s legacy of “Caring for the Whole You.”
This website has information on how you can establish a lasting legacy of caring at Summa Health. You also can call the Summa Foundation at 330.375.3159 to learn more.
Thank you for joining us on this journey.
