The Circle of Women's Health Philanthropists:

Celebrating a decade of dedication to women’s healthcare, $1 million in collective giving

This story originally appeared in the Summer 2024 edition of Promise magazine.

In 2024, the Summa Foundation Circle of Women’s Health Philanthropists celebrates its 10-year anniversary, a significant milestone that embodies a decade of commitment and collective generosity in support of women’s healthcare. The Circle also reached an extraordinary $1 million in cumulative giving, a testament to the power of unity and shared vision.

Since 2014, The Circle has grown into a formidable force for good, championing the healthcare needs of women and their families. The annual Holiday Celebration, hosted by Founding Chair Julia Rea Bianchi at Portage Country Club, on December 5, 2023, provided an opportunity for members to revel in the joy of the season and marked the culmination of a year filled with achievements.

Circle Chair Ginnie Abell presented grants totaling $98,287 to four deserving recipients. These grants will bolster vital Summa Health programs, including the Summa Health Complex Care Clinic, the Senior Health Program at the Summa Health Complex Care Institute, the Women Deserve to Smile Program and the Smart Start Medical Assistant Education Program.

“Our collective efforts over the last decade underscore the remarkable impact we can have when we harness our passion for the greater good,” said Ginnie. “Together, we are doing more than raising funds; we are raising standards of excellence in healthcare, raising awareness and raising hope for all women.”

A committee of Marie Lawson Society members has begun planning a celebration event to commemorate The Circle’s 10th anniversary later this year. This event will honor past achievements, share stories of impact and celebrate past and present Circle members.
