Lynn and Mark Yanke honored at 2022 Summa Health Golf Outing

Lynn and Mark Yanke, longtime friends and benefactors of Summa Health and the Akron community, were celebrated as the 2022 honorees of the 12th Summa Health Golf Outing held Tuesday, June 14, at the Firestone Country Club.

“We are so grateful to Lynn and Mark for their longtime generosity to Summa Health,” said Cliff Deveny, M.D., Summa Health president and chief executive officer. “We thank Lynn and Mark for all the ways they support our patients and families and the nurses who care for them.”

Lynn and Mark are faithful supporters of the Summa Health Golf Outing and, in turn, Summa Health nurses, who are the backbone of the health system.

Since its debut in 2010, the golf outing has raised nearly $3 million in support of resources for the health system’s more than 2,200 nurses. This year’s outing raised more than $232,000.

The Yankes have given generously to support several key initiatives across the health system, including the Emergency Medicine Residency Program and operations, orthopedic research and education, and the Sapphire Ball.

Lynn and Mark demonstrate selfless service and advocacy as members of the Summa Health Orthopedic Institute Leadership Council and the Naples Host Committee. Lynn is a Patroness member of The Circle of Women’s Health Philanthropists and will host the annual Ladies Luncheon at their Naples home in 2023.

Mark is founder and president of Yanke Bionics, Inc., one of the largest prosthetic and orthotic facilities in the country, with 11 offices across Ohio. Lynn worked in administration at Yanke Bionics for 25 years after the couple married in 1977.

Mark also is a member of the St. Vincent Charity Medical Center Spine and Orthopedic Leadership Council, while Lynn serves as a board member of the Regina Health Center and as a committee member of the Holy-In-One Golf Outing. Mark has sponsored the event since 2011. Lynn also is a volunteer at the Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens and a member of the Akron Garden Club.

The Yankes join an esteemed group of philanthropic leaders who have been recognized at the golf outing, including George and Alice Strickler (2021); Pam and Patrick O’Neill (2019); Phil Kaufmann (2018); Paul Testa (2017); Denise and Norm Wells (2015); Vincent DiGirolamo and his late wife, Nancy (2014); Tom and Ginny Knoll (2013); Rennick Andreoli and his late wife, Dee (2012); Thomas A. LaRose (2011); and Al and Jonne Gilbert (2010).
