Signs and symptoms of stomach disorders may include:
- Severe abdominal pain
- Tarry stools
- Heartburn not relieved by over-the-counter medications
- Acid reflux, also known as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
- Unexplained weight loss
- Ongoing vomiting or diarrhea
Diagnosis of stomach disorders
A physician will complete a thorough examination and medical history to help determine if you have a stomach condition. An Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) may be required. An EGD is a procedure to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach and first part of the small intestine.
