Summa Health Rehabilitation and Therapy offers convenient access to a full range of care, starting with therapy during your hospital stay and continuing through outpatient treatment and wellness coaching. Our coordinated approach helps you regain strength, restore function and return to your highest level of independence.
Our therapists are licensed in the State of Ohio and participate in ongoing training and continuing education to stay current with best practices and advancing technology. Many team members also have advanced training in specialized areas of care.
Types of Therapy
Summa Health Rehabilitation and Therapy services are available by physician referral, with personalized treatment plans tailored to your needs. All of our programs and specialized techniques are designed to relieve pain and improve function.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapists help patients of all ages recover from surgery, injury and conditions that affect muscles, joints and movement. Through personalized evaluations and treatment plans, they focus on improving mobility, strength and balance so you can move safely and confidently.
Speech Therapy
Speech therapists evaluate and treat challenges related to communication, memory, voice and swallowing. These services are especially important for patients recovering from stroke or other conditions that affect speech or safe swallowing.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps patients rebuild the skills needed for everyday life at home and work – such as bathing, dressing, cooking and eating. Our team treats patients recovering from stroke and other neurological conditions and offers ergonomic evaluations and return-to-work support for injured workers.

Getting Started with Therapy
Outpatient therapy begins with a referral from your physician. Once your referral is received, we’ll schedule an initial evaluation to learn about your needs, goals and daily activities.
At your first visit, your therapist will develop a personalized care plan that outlines recommended treatments, how often you’ll attend therapy and how long your care may last.
During follow-up visits, licensed physical therapy assistants or certified occupational therapy assistants may support your care under the guidance of your therapist. Throughout your treatment, our team provides education on injury prevention, pain management and ways to maintain and improve your progress.
