Diagnosis and Treatment of Rheumatic Disorders

Rheumatic disorders and autoimmune diseases affect the lives of more than 35 million people in the U.S., with arthritis being the most common cause of disability. Some are the result of wear and tear while others are immune system problems.

Summa Health rheumatologists specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of the conditions that affect the bones, muscles and joints.

A treatment plan will likely include medications, regular exercise, a healthy diet, stress management, and rest. We can work with you to identify the best ways to manage your condition.

Conditions We Treat

Rheumatism or rheumatic disorder is an umbrella term for conditions causing chronic inflammation affecting the joints and/or connective tissue. The study of, and therapeutic interventions in, such disorders is called rheumatology. The term "rheumatism,” however, does not designate any specific disorder, but covers at least 200 different conditions.

These conditions may cause muscle stiffness and swollen joints, leaving you with physical limitations. Summa Health knows staying active is essential to your health and wellness. We make it our priority to establish an accurate diagnosis, educate you about your condition and get you back to work and the activities you love.

Summa Health can help you with most diseases and conditions, including:
