OUR CURRENT CONTRACT WITH OPTUM/UNITED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH IS SET TO EXPIRE JULY 31, 2025

Our current contract with Optum/United Behavioral Health is set to expire on July 31, 2025. As a result, Summa Health has opened negotiations with Optum/United Behavioral Health to develop a new agreement. 

In the event we are not able to reach an agreement on August 1, 2025, Optum/United Behavioral Health members will no longer be in-network at Summa Health facilities and Summa Health Medical Group locations.

This means, effective August 1, 2025, our contract with Optum/United Behavioral Health will terminate, and members will need to seek care at an in-network provider for behavioral health services. 

Please know that while nothing changes for you right now and you can continue scheduling appointments for care as you normally do, we are here to help. The following options are available if you have any questions or concerns: 

  • We recommend calling Optum/United Behavioral Health’s customer service phone number on the back of your insurance card to discuss continuity of care options.
  • Call us at 234.867.6236 to speak with a representative. 
  • If you have a Medicare Advantage or Community Plan (Medicaid), you may consider your options during the upcoming open enrollment period and choose a health plan that guarantees you will have in-network coverage at Summa Health.
  • If you have coverage under an employee health plan, speak to your employer about options during open enrollment and for updates about your in-network status and out-of-network benefits.

We are committed to doing everything possible to reach a new agreement and to avoid any changes that would disrupt your current healthcare coverage. We look forward to providing additional information about our ongoing negotiations as it becomes available.
