AKRON, Ohio, March 20, 2019 – Summa Health announced that it has named Bill Schwartz vice president and associate chief information officer of IT&S. He is responsible for operational leadership of all software applications, as well as Business Intelligence, IT vendor, project, portfolio and performance management. He began in his new position March 18.
“Bill brings a wealth of experience in the implementation, adoption, optimization, utilization and support of EHR systems,” said Tanya Arthur, Summa Health senior vice president of IT&S and chief information officer. “He also has an accomplished background in IT business operations, managed services and building high performing teams. I look forward to working with him as we continue to implement new initiatives and ideas across the system.”
Prior to this new role, Schwartz worked as a consultant for Summa, leading key programs such as EPIC optimization, IT governance design and vendor management. He also served in a number of leadership roles at Children’s Hospital, as well as Catholic Health Initiatives in Colorado, where he was responsible for EPIC electronic medical record leadership, information technology, and operations management.
Schwartz holds a BBA from the University of Michigan, JD/MBA from The Ohio State University and a BSEE in Computer and Software Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder. He also holds industry standard certifications in EPIC Ambulatory, HIMSS CPHIMS and ITIL. He and his wife, Beth, are originally from the Akron area.
