AKRON, Ohio, March 13, 2019 – Summa Health announced that it has named Brad Martin, M.D., MHA, FACP, FCCP, Chief Medical Officer for Quality. In this role, Dr. Martin, who also serves as Vice President of Medical Affairs, will be responsible for leading and coordinating all hospital quality initiatives.
Among his many areas of focus, Dr. Martin will be heavily involved in heading physician engagement in strategic hospital initiatives, such as clinical efficiency and length of stay.
“Dr. Martin brings a wealth of experience to this role and is the ideal candidate to lead our many quality initiatives,” said Dr. David Custodio, President, Summa Health System – Akron & St. Thomas Campuses. “He has been a member of our medical staff for more than 30 years and held multiple key leadership positions during that time. Dr. Martin received his medical degree from Marshall University and completed a residency in internal medicine at Akron City Hospital. After completing his residency, he completed his critical care fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and obtained additional training through his integrative medicine fellowship from the University of Arizona. Dr. Martin also holds a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Ohio University.
He has held a variety of leadership positions during his tenure at Summa, including medical staff president, director of critical care and director of nutritional support. Most recently, he served as chair of the Department of Medicine from 2013 until this year
