Summa Health Reports $210.1 Million in Community Benefit

AKRON, Ohio, December 12, 2023 – Summa Health announced today that $210.1 million in community benefit was provided to area residents in 2022. These results are detailed in the system’s 2022 community impact report.

Included in Summa’s delivery of $210.1 million in community benefit are:
- $11.5 million in the net cost of traditional charity care
- $95.3 million in unpaid costs for Medicaid patients
- $29 million for education
- $8 million for research
- $50 million in subsidized health services, such as traumatic stress, senior health and dental care
- $16.3 million for community health improvement services, programs and support
