SummaCare Announces Medicare Advantage Plan Offerings for the 2024 Plan Year

AKRON, Ohio, October 1, 2023—Beginning October 15, Medicare-eligible individuals may select one of SummaCare’s updated Medicare Advantage plans for 2024. Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period runs through December 7.
Based in Akron, SummaCare’s Medicare Advantage plan service area includes 33 northern Ohio counties and gives Medicare Advantage members access to more than 22,000 providers and more than 70 hospitals. The SummaCare Medicare Advantage provider network recently expanded to include The Metro Health System and their associated providers.
SummaCare’s 2024 Medicare Advantage plans start as low as $0/month. Plan updates for the 2024 plan year include:
General Updates*
- Increased vision hardware allowance on Amber NE (HMO), Topaz (HMO), Jade (HMO), Garnet (HMO), Ruby (HMO) and Sapphire (HMO-POS) plans.
- Increased OTC quarterly benefit allowance on Amber NE, Jade, Ruby and Sapphire plans.
- Maximum Out of Pocket (MOOP) remains as low as $3,400 (Emerald HMO-POS).
Dental Updates*
- New embedded annual dental maximum benefits increased to $3,000 for Topaz and Jade
- Added one fluoride treatment as part of embedded preventive dental benefit on all plans.
- Removed coinsurance for fillings, simple extractions and root canals on the Amber, Topaz and Jade plans. Now Amber, Topaz and Jade (along with Garnet) have first-dollar coverage on these services.
- Added pre-work for dentures and bridges as a covered benefit on all plans except for Ruby.
- Reduced coinsurance for bridges, crowns and dentures from 50% to 20% on Topaz and Jade.
- Dental coverage provided through Delta Dental
