Community Health Needs Assessments Overview and 2025 Focus
For 2025, Summa Health conducted its Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) as part of a countywide collaborative led by Summit County Public Health. Participating in the collaborative strengthens alignment across health systems and community partners, reduces duplication of effort, and ensures that community voice is captured consistently across the region. The collaborative model provides access to high-quality data, shared analytic resources, and a unified understanding of the most pressing health needs affecting Summit County. It also supports regional planning, creates efficiencies, and positions all partners to implement more coordinated and sustainable strategies to improve community health. Implementation strategies for the 2025 CHNA will be added to this page by May 15, 2026.
Summa Health partners with Summit County Public Health (SCPH) and the Summit Coalition for Community Health Improvement (SCCHI) to conduct the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA).
The purpose of this CHNA is to improve the health of our community. The information presented in these reports also will act as a resource for other community groups working toward improving the health of the community. In addition, they will fulfill the CHNA requirements established by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act for the hospital facilities listed: Akron Campus, Barberton Campus, and Summa Rehab Hospital, LLC. The Summa Health System Healthcare Board adopted and approved the CHNA on December 18, 2025.
