2025: A Year of Purposeful Preparation and Transformational Progress
For more than 130 years, Summa Health has been a cornerstone of care in the Greater Akron region – improving health, strengthening our community and supporting the region’s economic vitality. In 2025, we honored that legacy while taking deliberate, disciplined steps toward a bold new future.
Throughout the year, our focus was clear. We worked thoughtfully and responsibly to prepare for a transformational change in how we operate, invest and serve. This work required careful planning, operational focus and an unwavering commitment to those who depend on us – our patients, our people and our community.
That preparation culminated in October 2025, when Summa Health officially joined the Health Assurance Transformation Company (HATCo), a healthcare platform founded by General Catalyst to help reshape the future of healthcare.
This milestone was not a starting point, but the result of months of intentional work to ensure we were ready – clinically, operationally and culturally – to succeed in this new model.
What This Means for Our Employees
For Summa Health team members, this transition represents stability and opportunity. Throughout 2025, we worked to strengthen our foundation – making plans to support our workforce, sustain our operations and ensure our mission remains intact.
With new investment and resources, our employees are better positioned to:
