The pulmonary clinic staff made me feel like family.

Laura: "I had been a lifelong smoker, heavy smoker for 30 years, so was no surprise that I came down with pneumonia twice in six months. I ended up at Summa Health Akron, on a ventilator. Fortunately, they got me off the ventilator, and that was how I ended up leaving the hospital with oxygen.

About a year ago, Dr. Forte performed an endo-bronchial valve placement on me where they put three valves in my lung, and as a result, I'm breathing better. Every three months I go to Summa's Pulmonary Clinic for follow up. Sarah's the nurse practitioner, and I love her like family. She's a godsend.

My husband and I don't let the oxygen stop us. We do pretty much anything we wanna do. We recently went on a beach vacation that was phenomenal, and I wanna tell the team at the Pulmonary Clinic, thank you so much for taking such good care of me."
