Every March 30, Summa Health celebrates the physicians who care for our patients, support our teams and strengthen our community.

 

For our patients, Doctors Day is a reminder of the skilled hands and steady voices who guide them through some of life’s most vulnerable moments. For our nurses, advanced practice providers and care teams, it is an opportunity to recognize the physician partners who collaborate to deliver safe, high-quality care. And for our community, it is a chance to reflect on the essential role physicians play in improving the health and well-being of our region.

 

Across our system, more than 1,000 employed and affiliated physicians, residents and fellows dedicate themselves each day to advancing care. They diagnose and treat complex conditions. They lead research and innovation. They mentor the next generation of clinicians. They drive meaningful improvements in quality, safety and patient experience that define who we are as an organization.

 

Healthcare continues to evolve at a rapid pace – clinically, technologically and operationally. Through that change, our physicians remain a steady source of expertise and leadership. They ask thoughtful questions. They champion evidence-based practice. They set high standards and hold themselves – and all of us – accountable to them. Because of our doctors, clinical excellence is not just a goal; it is an expectation. And because of their commitment, patients place their trust in our system every day.

 

Doctors Day is also about partnership. No physician practices alone. The best outcomes are achieved when physicians, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, support staff and administrators work together in alignment around a shared mission. I am proud of the collaborative culture that defines our organization and strengthens our ability to serve.
