Summa Paramedic Program
An MCI drill was conducted for the Summa 2025 graduating class of PARAMEDICS.
This drill was a recreation of a hot air balloon accident in a field resulting in a mass casualty accident. This allows for training not only in pre-hospital emergency medicine but in all facets of emergency preparedness from the command structure to triage our paramedics students are tested on their ability to utilize their yearlong training. This is a live drill consisting of manikins and actual actors recreating a disaster that has occurred this year.
Chief Lorentz of Hartville Fire Department donated his hot air balloon for this exercise also providing education on hot air balloon safety, although accidents happen hot air balloons are relatively safe and recommends getting involved in an exciting hobby.
