Summa Health Corporate Health is an Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) provider offering comprehensive occupational health services at six locations. Summa Health’s occupational health specialists include board-certified physicians, certified nurse practitioners, certified occupational health nurses as well as certified breath alcohol technicians and drug screen collectors.  Our support staff is also certified by the Council for Accreditation for Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) in spirometry.

Summa Health Corporate Health offers a wide range of services designed to assure injured workers will return to work as quickly as possible beginning with the immediate treatment of your employee’s on-the-job injury through referrals for therapy or other rehabilitation needs.

Regulation Compliance

Full spectrums of physical examinations are designed to meet requirements outlined by the DOT (Department of Transportation), OSHA, or other regulatory requirements. Summa Health Corporate Health tailors services to meet your company’s needs.

Corporate Health can manage all of your drug and alcohol testing needs. We not only offer drug testing through a SAMHSA-certified lab, we also offer rapid testing for urine and saliva, and hair testing and urine screening through our onsite toxicology lab.  We offer a wide range of drug screen panels from DOT to basic or expanded non-DOT panels.  Another service we provide is both DOT and non-DOT consortiums for your random testing requirements and we have a National Program for companies with employees throughout the country. Our in-house, certified MROs provide a personal touch as they notify the DER of every positive result after careful review and investigation.

Because we are a hospital-based occupational health organization, clients have the added convenience of after-hours and weekend emergency care at Summa Health System’s Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Centers to provide 24-hour access for injuries.

Who do I contact to get more information about Summa Health Corporate Health’s occupational health services or to set up an account for services?

Does my company need to sign a formal contract/agreement to participate in Summa Health Corporate Health’s occupational healthcare services?

Summa Health Corporate Health does not require a formal contract or agreement with its occupational healthcare clients. After fully assessing a company’s occupational healthcare needs, a Summa Urgent Care & Corporate Health representative will create a company protocol outlining the services to be performed as well as reporting instructions. This protocol is periodically reviewed with the company for accuracy.

What is the standard turnaround time for urine drug screens and/or any additional substance abuse testing?

A typical turnaround time for a negative urine drug screen result is 24 to 48 hours. A non-negative urine drug screen results requires an additional 24 to 48 hours for the Medical Review Officer (MRO) process.

Breath alcohol test results are obtained and reported immediately after testing and/or confirmation occurs.

All hair testing reporting occurs within 48 to 72 hours after the hair specimen is obtained.

Do my employees need appointments for work-related physicals, urine drug screens, or work-related injury care?

For physicals or other screening, appointments help the center’s staff to provide timely care of the worker, and get them back to work quickly. For initial treatment of work related injuries, no appointment is needed, walk-ins are welcome; however, scheduled appointments are encouraged to expedite the services needed. It is our policy to treat/see scheduled appointments first, although, Summa Health Corporate Health’s expects that for initial work-related injuries, employees will be coming to the center(s) unexpectedly and they will be triaged immediately.

Is Summa Health Corporate Health an Ohio BWC Certified Provider?

Yes, Summa Health Corporate Health is an Ohio BWC Certified Provider and we are able to treat any employee in the State of Ohio for a work-related injury.

What should I do if I am injured at work?

If you are injured at work, after reporting the injury to your employer, treatment should be sought immediately at any of our Summa Health Corporate Health locations. If any of our centers are closed at the time of your injury, we recommend you seek medical attention at one of Summa's emergency rooms or urgent care centers. You can then schedule your follow-up appointment, if necessary, with one of our centers.
