Cosmetic Injectables

As skin ages, it loses fatty tissue that results in the appearance of lines or drooping skin. Injectables are non-surgical cosmetic treatments used to temporarily relax facial wrinkles, contour, and improve lost definition and volume.

Targeting Areas

Popular cosmetic procedures, such as FDA approved Botox and JUVÉDERM, are commonly designed to enhance facial aesthetics by adding volume to areas such as the cheeks and lips, helping to restore a youthful contour. They also work to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles that develop over time due to repeated facial muscle movements. These treatments are especially effective in targeting problem areas like:

  • Glabellar lines (frown lines)
  • Wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet)
  • Forehead creases
  • Corners of the mouth
  • Chin dimples
  • Lip lines (smoker’s lines)

Injectable Dermal Fillers

Injectable dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected beneath the skin to plump thin lips, enhance shallow contours, soften facial creases, remove wrinkles, treat varicose and spider veins, and improve the appearance of scars. Summa Health cosmetic experts use a variety of FDA approved filler products to provide temporary or long-lasting improvement. They are very predictable and have relatively minimal risks and side effects.

Autologous Fat Injections

A more complex injectable procedure, autologous fat injections use fat harvested from the patient's own body. The fat is re-injected into the face to enhance fullness, fill creases or build up shallow contours. It involves determining a "donor area,” such as the abdomen or buttocks, and extracting the fat through liposuction. The suctioned fat is transferred as a graft, which has to redevelop a blood supply in order to survive.

Treatment and Recovery

An injectable treatment is an easy and discreet outpatient procedure that usually only takes a few minutes. Most patients return to regular activity within just a few hours.
