The Volunteer Services Office at Summa Health is offering Pet Partners Evaluations to individuals who have completed the pre-requisite Pet Partners training course. Pet Partners certification is required for Summa WAGtime dog visitation volunteer program.
The WAGtime dog visitation program of Summa Health allows teams of trained pet owners and their dogs to visit with various patients and family members at Summa hospitals. Dog visitation teams have a profound impact on the hospital patients they meet, bringing smiles to their faces and helping to lift their spirits.
The Team Evaluation process evaluates the animal/handler team; how well the handler interprets and manages the dog's behavior and how well the dog responds to the handler. The main emphasis being that the dog is under control at all times. This process is the safest way to identify acceptable visiting teams. Pet Partners Licensed Team Evaluators perform team evaluations.
