The Summa Health System – Akron Campus Emergency Department (ED) achieved bronze-level accreditation as a Geriatric ED from the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) program. This signifies that we meet the interdisciplinary geriatric standards set forth by the ACEP and demonstrates our focus on delivering the highest standards of emergency care for our communities’ older adults.
In March 2020, Summa Health Akron Campus and Barberton Campus received three year re-accreditation from The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). NAPBC is a group of national, professional organizations focused on breast health and dedicated to the improvement of quality outcomes of patients with diseases of the breast. The Summa Health Breast Multidisciplinary Clinic is proud to be an accredited partner, addressing the full continuum of cancer—from prevention to survivorship.
Our Akron and Barberton Campuses are accredited Chest Pain Centers by the American College of Cardiology. Akron Campus has an additional distinction of being accredited as a Chest Pain Center with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). PCI is a mechanical means of treating heart attack patients by eliminating blockages in coronary arteries.
Summa Health earned the prestigious American College of Radiation (ACR) accreditation in radiation oncology, demonstrating we have undergone a rigorous review process and meet nationally accepted standards of care. In addition, the Center at Summa Health Parkview Pavilion was designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiation (ACR).
