Summa Health recognizes Emergency Medical Service (EMS) teams monthly for excellence in stroke care, specifically, timeliness to treatment and outcomes. Stroke is a medical emergency in which 1.9 million brain cells die per minute. Pre-hospital notification of stroke has been associated with more timely evaluation and treatment.
