Letter from the Program Director

Our Geriatric Medicine Fellowship offers fellows the opportunity to experience patient care in a variety of settings including long term care, geriatric assessment clinic, physician house calls, SNFs, inpatient consults within the hospital, as well as rotations with different specialties within and outside of our system. With opportunities to choose electives and research topics of personal interest, our program can be tailored to support your goals.

Akron, Ohio offers a diverse patient population with chances to work with unique and complex patient cases. Our department of Senior Services and Senior Health Center work with all areas of the hospital to establish a rapport with different specialties and patient continuity.

Our Geriatric Medicine Fellowship accepts two fellows per year. The program also accepts residents, medical students, and outside fellows for rotations, giving our fellows the chance to develop and hone their personal teaching style. By the second half of the fellowship, fellows work like junior faculty.

Medical Education at Summa Health strives to support and develop the best residents and fellows possible. We look forward to hearing from you!
