Rotation Schedule
Our curriculum is structured in accordance with the Residency Review Committee requirements.
Residents rotate in the following categories over the course of residency:
- General Surgery (Breast, Endocrine, Advanced Laparoscopic/Bariatric, Colorectal, ENT, and Hepatobiliary)
- Cardiothoracic
- Vascular
- Acute Care
- Trauma/Critical Care
- Pediatric & Burn
- Plastics
- Research
- Transplant
- Night Float
A General Surgery residents 5 year rotation schedule might be similar to this:
- PGY 1 – 6 months General Surgery, 2 months Night Float, 1 month Trauma, 1 month Acute Care, 1 month Vascular, 1 month Cardiothoracic
- PGY 2 – 4 months General Surgery, 2 months Night Float, 1 month Elective (Plastics or Research), 1 month Cardiothoracic, 1 month Trauma, 2 months Acute Care, 1 month Vascular
- PGY 3 – 3 months General Surgery, 2 months Night Float, 2 months Peds, 1 month Transplant, 1 month Cardiothoracic, 2 months Trauma, 1 month Vascular
- PGY 4 – 6 months General Surgery, 2 months Night Float, 2 months Vascular, 1 month Cardiothoracic, 1 month Trauma
- PGY 5 – 7 months General Surgery, 1 month Night Float, 2 months Acute Care, 2 months Vascular
