Student Placement & Onboarding Process

Welcome to the Summa Health student placement portal. If you are seeking a preceptorship or clinical rotation, please follow the step-by-step process below.
1. Secure a Preceptor
Students are responsible for contacting Summa Health employees directly to request a placement or preceptorship.

2. Internal Preceptor Approval
Once a Summa employee agrees to be your preceptor, they must contact their manager and Amanda Pratt (prattal@summahealth.org) to submit the agreement.

Your preceptor will need to provide the following details:
  • Student Information: Full name and email address
  • Rotation Details: Approved date range for the preceptorship
  • Management Info: The name of the preceptor's manager
3. Request School Coordination
After securing your preceptor, contact your home institution's clinical coordinator. Request that they officially log and process your clinical rotation through the ACEMAPP system.

4. Complete Onboarding Requirements
You must complete all requested onboarding items, modules, and paperwork issued by both your school and the Summa Health onboarding team prior to your designated due date. Failure to complete these items on time may delay your start date.

5. Eligibility & Support
  • Institutional Eligibility: Summa Health accepts students from schools with active affiliation agreements. This includes local students as well as distant students who currently reside in the area.
  • Technical Support: For questions regarding IT setup, HealthStream modules, or the ACEMAPP system, please contact summastudents@summahealth.org.
