SummaCare Waiving Coronavirus COVID-19 Testing Fees for Members

Date: 03/16/2020

AKRON, Ohio, March 16, 2020 –SummaCare announced today it is waiving co-pays and deductibles related to provider-ordered testing of COVID-19 for its Medicare Advantage, Individual and Commercial members.

This free testing will be available regardless of where the test is ordered and performed. Self-insured plans will determine how their coverage will apply. Based on current CDC recommendations, members should call their physician if they believe they have been exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms that may need testing.

Symptom management for COVID-19 is subject to the same copays, co-insurance and/or deductibles that would apply to other tests and treatment (such as flu or other viral infection). No medication or vaccination currently exists for the treatment of COVID-19. For additional questions about coverage, members should call the number on the back of their ID card.
Additional information for members is available at summacare.com.
